Tourism Government - States KTDC launches online reservation Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, March 11 THE Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) has introduced online reservation system for its hotel rooms. The high-speed online reservation system, launched here on Monday by the Tourism Minister, Mr K.V. Thomas, is being put in place in association with Resnet, a networking company belonging to ICICI. The system will expose KTDC hotel properties to more than five lakh travel agents spread over 120 countries around the globe. Also, nearly 4,000 travel agents located across 46 cities in the country will be linked directly to KTDC through the system. According to Mrs Padmaja Venugopal, Chairperson of KTDC, the system will enable travel agents and tourists to book hotel rooms on-line using international credit cards. KTDC has also placed all its prime properties in the Global Distribution System (GDS) providing the international travel agents easy access to KTDC hotels. Besides, it has re-defined its corporate logo as part of its efforts to give a corporate identity to its hotels in tune with the changing trends. Mrs Padmaja said despite the prevailing slump in the industry, KTDC had been registering satisfactory bookings consistently during the current year. The corporation registered a turnover of Rs 21.8 crore as on December 31, 2001.
