Tea CTCs in demand at Guwahati sale Our Correspondent
GUWAHATI: There was better demand for CTC offerings and prices closely followed quality at sale no. 07. All clean well-made brokens saw competition at last levels. Levels for all other sorts were irregularly lower following the decline in quality, particularly end of season varieties. Cheaper Assams and Cachars met with better enquiry and were readily absorbed at lower levels. The major blender was selective and avoided poorer and end season descriptions. There was some enquiry from Eveready and Godfrey Phillips while Tata Tea re-entered the market for medium brokens but operated selectively. Western India markets were selective for liquoring teas on offer. North India and other internal buyers lent good support for cheaper Assams and Cachars. CIS shippers were more restricted while Polish exporters absorbed boldest brokens. There was only fair enquiry for Dust categories. All descriptions were irregularly lower following quality. Medium dusts met with selective enquiry and saw some withdrawals. Cheapest dusts, however, met with better enquiry and sold readily at lower levels. — Our Bureaus
