Rs 350-cr annual outlay for Sikkim

NEW DELHI: Sikkim's annual Plan for 2002-03 has been fixed at Rs 350 crore, based on the identifiable resources at a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission, Mr K.C.Pant, and the Chief Minister, Mr Pawan Chamling.

Mr Pant appreciated the State for achievement in the area of human development, as its literacy rate of 69.68 per cent was higher than the all-India average. He urged the State to prepare perspective Plan for pri- vate sector-led development of horticulture, cash crops, animal husbandry and hydel power.

Mr Chamling said that the State had not availed the overdraft in the recent past and several measures had been taken to curb non-Plan expenditure.
