Corpn Bank inter-union row

Our Bureau

MANGALORE: Corporation Bank Officers' Organisation (CBOO), which has launched an agitation demanding a voluntary retirement scheme for officers, has accused another union — the Corporation Bank Employees' Union (CBEU) — of having unleashed a disinformation campaign regarding the validity of introducing a severance package for the bank's officers.

CBEU, whose members happen to be clerks, sub-staff and part-time officers, and the Corporation Bank Officers' Association (CBOA), which has a membership of 500-odd officers, have come out against the CBOO-led agitation claiming that the bank did not have a surplus that could be eased out. CBOO, on its part, claims to represent 3,000 of the bank's 3,500 officers.
