HYDERABAD, Feb. 19

THE Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, has called upon the critics of his economic policies - who recently compared it with that of Argentina's - to first analyse the finances of States such as Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan .

"For instance, in Kerala, the Congress-led coalition is not in a position to pay employees their salaries. The situation is no different in Madhya Pradesh, where the Government is unable to pay dearness allowance. The Rajasthan Government is in deep trouble, having run up huge debts," he said.

Mr Naidu said that the services sector, which was growing at a rapid pace, had the potential to provide job oppor- tunities. "Neither the farm sector nor the industrial sector can offer fresh job opportunities, and this can be seen from about 50 per cent of the GDP coming from the services sector."

Most of the State debt was well-directed and targeted at various developmental activities and productive purposes.
