Entry tax: Rlys no to States

NEW DELHI, Feb. 17

WITH just a few days to go for the Rail Budget, the Railways has come under pressure from several State Governments to fork out an entry tax on goods movement.

The Ministry has opposed the move, saying that it is not even recovering costs on several commodities, and hence, will not be in a position to pay the levy, said a top Railway Board official.
