Tea Demand for leaf teas at Kochi sale Our Bureau
KOCHI, Feb. 17 A MIXED trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Though a good general demand prevailed in the leaf sale, it was comparatively low for dust varieties. There was only a fair general demand in the dust category and the quantity on offer was 852,000 kg. CTC market was steady and tended to ease. Orthodox witnessed less demand at lower levels. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 50-68, medium CTC realised Rs 36-47 and poorer type were quoted at Rs 30-35. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 48-105, while medium BOPD realised Rs 30-37. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 20-23. The leaf sale witnessed a good general demand and the quantity on offer was 435,000 kg. Orthodox medium brokens barely steady, while highgrown brokens fully firm to dearer following quality. Corresponding fannings remained steady and CTCs tended to ease. CIS buyers and other exporters lent fair support. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 63-76, medium Orthodox realised Rs 47-51 and plain Orthodox realised Rs 39-43. Medium CTC leaf fetched Rs 32-37.
