PM gives nod to APM dismantling

NEW DELHI, Feb. 14

THE Prime Minister, Mr A.B. Vajpayee, has given the final approval for dismantling the administered pricing mechanism (APM) in the petroleum sector on April 1, the Union Petroleum Minister, Mr Ram Naik, said on Thursday after a meeting with the Prime Minister, which was attended by the Finance Minister, Mr Yashwant Sinha.

Speaking to presspersons after the meeting, Mr Naik said, "The Government will lift all controls on retail pricing of products like petrol and diesel from April 1. It will have no role in pricing at the retail level.''
