NLC to issue debentures

CHENNAI: The Neyveli Lignite Corporation has informed the Stock Exchanges of a proposal to raise Rs 300 crore in the form of private placement of secured non-convertible taxable bonds in the nature of debentures, with an option to retain over-subscription up to Rs 100 crore, through a book building process.

It is learnt that the issue is a part of the public sector power producer's Rs 800 crore borrowing programme, which money is needed to fund its expansion projects.

The project is for expanding the capacity of Mine-II from 10.5 million tonnes per annum (of lignite mined) to 15 MTPA, as well as for raising the capacity of the Thermal Power Station-II by 500 MW to 1970 MW. - Our Bureau
