Kerala medical institute to be operational from Jan 23

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Jan. 20

KERALA Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), the first venture of Great India Health Care Management Ltd, will become operational from January 23.

The hospital is promoted by Air Travel Enterprise Group. The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) has equity participation up to Rs 1.80 crore in the Rs 25-crore capital of the project.

According to the Chairman of Air Travel Enterprises Group and Executive Director of KIMS, Mr E.M. Najeeb, the total cost of the project is Rs 50 crore.

The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) and GE Capital Services India have supported the project by way of loans.

KIMS, situated in four acres of land in Thiruvananthapuram, is spread over an area of two-lakh sq ft and has 250 beds with 100 private rooms.

The hospital, equipped with the latest facilities, would make use of modern methods of healthcare delivery system, he said.

He claimed that KIMS was set to become one of the biggest multi- speciality tertiary care hospitals in the country.

A second phase of expansion of the hospital was also planned at a cost of Rs 50 crore, he said.
