Farm income

Farmers as a community have suffered much due to erratic climatic and market situations. To cite one instance, the devastation wrought by the coconut mite disease ruined many farmers.

Unfortunately the Government or its research facilities did not step into the fray until it was too late.

While the industry has many forums to air its grouses, the unfortunate farmers do not have such platforms. It is time a realistic study was conducted and a strong decision taken.

The Government must arrive at a suitable policy at the national level rather than implement piece-meal solutions to appease some.
