Chamber hails Kerala allotment to farm sector

KOCHI, Jan. 13

THE Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the Kerala Government's decision to allot Rs 200 crore to the farmers and traditional workers in the State, saying that it will provide some relief to these suffering sectors in financial distress.

The Chamber President, Mr N. Radhakrishnan, said that a large number of small-scale industries have either closed down and the remaining ones were struggling for their survival. This unpleasant situation has already adversely affected the majority of the State's population.

Any Government committed to the well being of the society was bound to come forward with measures to rescue them from the miseries, he added.

He also called upon the Government for a three-year moratorium on new appointments, redeployment of the existing staff gainfully and inculcation of a new work culture with the co-operation of staff unions in a bid to tide over the financial crisis.
