Airlines India, Iran sign air services pact Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, Jan. 3 THE Government has concluded an air services bilateral agreement with Iran allowing its carrier, Mahan Air, to operate three weekly return flights on the Delhi-Tehran sector including two via Kabul. The bilateral air services agreement paves the way for re-establishment of direct air links between Delhi and Kabul, which were suspended for the past couple of years. The air services are to commence as a result of exchange of 700 seats-a-week bilateral air services agreement between India and Iran. The exact timing of when the flight will commence is to be decided by Mahan Air. Official sources told Business Line that the lifting of the United Nations sanctions on Afghanistan and completion of repair work at Kabul airport will also determine when the air connections between India-Afghanistan are re-established.
