Announcements Corporate - Announcements Ericsson Telecom renamed Ericsson India Our Bureau
MUMBAI, Jan. 2 ERICSSON has renamed its Indian operation, Ericsson Telecommunications Private Ltd, as Ericsson India Private Ltd. It had received the necessary approval from Registrar of Companies, a company press release said. Ericsson had amalgamated its two wholly-owned subsidiaries Ericsson Telecommunications Ltd and Ericsson Communications Ltd early last year in order to create a combined entity to cater to the wireless and wireline convergence opportunities in India. The company had, as part of its scheme of amalgamation, proposed renaming the merged entity as Ericsson India Private Ltd which has now been officially recognised. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telefonaktiebolaget L.M.Ericsson, Sweden. The company will continue to focus on building its leadership in mobile infrastructure business, besides introducing new technologies and products. Ericsson has installed over 1.3 million fixed lines in India besides supplying telecom infrastructure equipment in the area of switching and transmission to DoT/BSNL, MTNL, Defence and Indian Railways.
