AP varsity's breakthrough in rice hybrids
OUT of the 40 million hectares of area under rice in the country, the improved varieties developed by the Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) cover about 10 million hectares. The swarna variety alone occupies about 11 per cent of the tot al rice area in India, according to the University Vice-Chancellor, Dr I. Subba Rao.

AP to import insect detectors
SOPHISTICATED equipment to detect the nature of plant insects will be imported from abroad and installed in all district headquarters of the State to enable the farmers to reduce the use of chemical pesticides, especially in the cotton fields, Mr V. Sobh anadreeswara Rao, the State Agriculture Minister, has said.
