Volatility in gold may continue
AFTER languishing for a protracted period of time, the gold market found a most unlikely ally in the form of terrorism attacks on the US recently, following which attention has been revived on gold as an investment asset.

Technical Analysis
Palm Oil futures may look up
Malaysian palm oil futures put up a smart recovery towards the end of the week almost reaching the pschycological level of 1,000 ringgits. The last session on Friday saw prices rebounding very strongly on short covering and the bearish figures released b y Palmis, falling within the market expectations.

Erosion in near-term NY cotton likely
NY Cotton futures, trading truncated one and half hours sessions at the backup facilitiy in Long Island, following the destruction of NYBOT's trading floor in the September 11 World Trade Center attack, ended the week with some hope. Although the trading sessions went smoothly given the emergency set-up, the cotton industry may be a bit sidelined as the futures trading hours are limited. There was scale down trade buying noticed at the lows, but selling related to the falling stock market and fears of w ar and global recession remained a factor for cotton.
