Groundnut meal exports may go up this year
AS a major oilseeds producing country, India cannot but be affected by international production and consumption environment for vegetable oils and protein meals. And the impact would be all the more marked in view of globalisation and corresponding freer market access, Mr S.B. Jhaveri, Chairman of Groundnut Extractions Export Development Association (GEEDA), has cautioned.

Vegoil market awaits direction
FOLLOWING imposition of tariff values and advent of domestic oilseed harvest season, there has been a significant slowdown in Indian purchases of various palm oils. After a short-lived rally in July, the overseas market is forced to seek lower levels ove r the last four weeks as Indian demand declined.

Campaign to promote soya consumption
THE American Soyabean Association (ASA) is planning to launch a generic campaign to promote consumption of soyabean products in India. The association is holding discussion with the Union Government and the representatives of the soya industry in this re gard, according to the ASA Technical Director (Soya Food Marketing), Mr Suresh Itapu.

THE West Bengal Cha Mazdoor Sabha, a union of tea workers affiliated to the Hind Mazdoor Sabha, has strongly criticised tea garden owners for their move to reduce bonus to the minimum level of 8.33 per cent.
