Book Review
If and when PSUs go private
COMPETITION of private sector companies with the public sector has become very pronounced. Hence the necessity of continuance of public sector or the reduction of government holding in PSUs needs re-consideration. In today's post-liberalisation scenario, disinvestment/privatisation appears to have become a necessity for PSUs.

Economic wisdom
IN the pantheon of economic literature, Godheads and political leaders do occasionally figure prominently for having shaped the course of economic development by their emphasis on ethics, values and greater consideration for the summum bonum of all peopl e. The author has woven a theme integrating the personal experience of three eminent people -- Vivekananda, Gandhiji and Subhachandra Bose -- in different walks of life into a universal proposition that elevates knowledge itself into a higher plane.

* The Mind of the CEO
OVER the last decade the world has embraced free market forces with unprecedented zeal. This has led to more power in the hands of big corporations, as market power dwarfs government's ability to shape our lives. In The Mind of the CEO, Garten has drawn together their thoughts and ideas to create a unique perspective on global business, economics and politics. The author explores the CEO's views about issues such as a united Europe with a single currency; the changing structures of the US as it heads fo r a more technological, information-intensive and globalised economy.
