Cash in on a growing demand
Cashew, which is today relished by all and is a prominent ingredient in various India dishes, came to India nearly 500 years ago. And for the last 80 years it has been processed and exported.

Nut value
THE cashew (Anacardium Occidentale L.), a native of eastern Brazil, was introduced to India by the Portuguese about five centuries ago. It is well adapted to the Indian conditions and is at home in the coastal regions in the country. In later years when its high economic value as a forex earner was realised, cashew was elevated from its status as a `crop of the wasteland to a commercial crop'.
