Gujarat HC restraint on pipeline projects
MR JUSTICE M. R. Calla and Mr Justice R. R. Tripathi of the Gujarat High Court Bench have taken a stance against the Gujarat Government granting sanction to any more pipelines through the Marine National Park (MNP) in Jamnagar. The ruling came in the Sp ecial Leave Application filed by Halar Utkarsh Samiti which had challenged the authorisation given by the State Government to the Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd (BORL) for laying pipelines from the single point mooring (SPM) to the proposed crude oil termina l (COT) at Vadinar in violation of the provisions of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.

Cotton yarn exports to China, Russia up
WHILE cotton yarn export from India continues to stagnate, its shipments to China and Russia in the non-quota market and to Italy in the quota market have recorded impressive gains. But the eleven-month export figures ending November 2000 show the yarn s hipment had hit the plateau, with the total volume remaining at 490 million kgs, more or less at the same level as last year.
