HR coils: On a sticky wicket
ARE the firm trends in hot rolled coil prices which have been in evidence over the past six months sustainable in the near future? After being on a steady uptrend in the last quarter of 1999-2000, prices have stabilised in the first four months o f 2000-01. Trading at $300 per tonne in March, prices had appreciated by nearly 43 per cent over the corresponding period in the previous year. Since then, the HR coil prices have been hovering in the $300-330 range.
