NCAER Macro Track -- Concern over pressure on deficit, inflation
AIDED by a distinct industrial recovery, the economy is likely to encounter higher growth but accompanied by pressures on the current account, warranting a watch on the fiscal deficit and inflation, the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAE R) has warned.

THE United Nations (UN) System has underlined the need for effective devolution of responsibilities to Panchayati Raj institutions with a focus on community control of delivery mechanisms to ensure that the process of economic growth becomes more inclusi ve and translates into sustainable human development.

Public action for effective use of rainwater urged
OF all available options, rainwater harvesting appears to have the best chance of success, both for recharging ground water and for offering a solution to the water crisis in most parts of the country. Since private behaviour is likely to continue to be extractive and exploitative, public and community action will have to be harnessed for ensuring that our abundant rainwater endowments are utilised efficiently and productively, said Mr. K.C. Pant, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission.
