INDIA must bring about further liberalisation in its investment policies if the country is to keep alive the developmental aspirations of both its new economy as well as the old, according to Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, the visiting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce of Thailand.

`Scope to boost trade with Oman'
THE Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Omar Abdullah, has said with the commissioning of $ 1.1 billion fertiliser project in Oman, the $ 1.8 billion refinery project in India and supply of 1.6 million tonnes of LNG to Dabhol power pro ject, the bilateral trade between India and Oman would multiply many times.

BIMST to work towards free trade pact
BANGLADESH, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand (BIMST) have agreed to work towards establishing a free trade arrangement in the region and have set up an inter-governmental group to prepare a concept paper on possible approaches which can be adopted towards the preferential trading arrangement leading to the free trade area.

Lanka trade group for better use of FTA
A 40-MEMBER Sri Lankan trade delegation, which is currently in India, has urged the Indian entrepreneurs to use the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) for better trade and investment between the two countries.
