Dollar/yen at the crossroads?
THE one-and-a-half-year old Japanese growth story, which increased the appetite for yen-denominated stocks and securities among foreign investors, now risks coming to a grinding halt.

Fundamentals given the go-by
THESE are not good times for the fundamental trader. The markets seem to be determined to test the resolve of such traders. In the last fortnight, we have seen the continuation of trends which seem to go against the grain of economic realities.

Why the term inter-bank market has not taken off
IT has been over two years since the Reserve Bank of India freed inter-bank borrowings from reserve requirements; subject to the minimum pre-emptions of 3 per cent CRR and 25 per cent SLR respectively. At that time, it was widely felt that this removal w as the critical impetus required for the term market to take off. However, the reality has been vastly different.
