Auto cos go through rerating
AFTER the volatility of the last week when the BSE Sensitive Index swung wildly even on an intra-day basis, the first two days' trading this week has been comparatively docile. After losing about 67 points in Monday's trading, the Sensex has been subdued during the day's trading too. With the third quarter financial results due any time, it appears as if the market is waiting to assess corporate performance before making any decisive movement.

Select infotech stocks log gains
IN stark contrast to the trading pattern on Monday, stocks posted a smart recovery towards the close of Tuesday's trading. After opening on a weak note, the BSE Sensex remained subdued for the better part of the day.

Equities weaken, but Sensex goes up
ALTHOUGH the benchmark Sensex gained about 60 points or 1.11 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) to end the day at 5464.51, the overall trend indicated falling values, especially in the technology sector.

Technical Analysis
Downtrend initiated
THE index opened with a marginal bull gap of about three points on Tuesday. The early hours of trading saw the index fall by about 24 points from the open to mark the low for the day. This fall triggered the downtrend in the index, terminating the curren t uptrend.
